The Great Freebie

Remember when I told you I had a great freebie find to share?  Well, it really wasn’t my find, but my neighbor’s, Alanna.  She found it outside an antique store with a sign on it that said “FREE”.  Alanna knew about the One That Got Away, so she called me as soon as she saw it wondering if I’d be interested.  When I saw it my mouth dropped.  It had so much potential!  I couldn’t believe it was free!

Now, now, don’t judge.  Look at it not for what it is, but for what it could be.  It really was easy to transform.  It just took a little sanding, …

… a little paint (Behr Premium Plus Ultra in Aged Parchment), …

… a little distressing.

... and there you have it!

It needs a proper background and I’m not crazy about the little pine tree “screen” (seems a little Christmasy to me) but I’m working on it.  I was just eager to show yall.

On a somewhat related note:  Always wear shoes when doing your projects or you might ruin your freshly done pedi!!

Absolutely, Laura!

I can't believe that was free! What a great way to get a fireplace in a room. Stacked birch logs would look so cool in there :)

SO lovely! I like the tree screen. It's so simple and clean looking.

That's a great makeover!! I love it in your living (family?) room. Sooooo much better in distressed white! Visiting from The CSI Project. My link is an older post--#5 on the list. :)

How funny! The 2 projects over at CSI that caught my eye first are both yours! This is just breath taking, and I don't think the screen looks Christmassy at all. Good eye!

What a cool room. Anything else thrifted or free in it?
