Quick Tips for Blogger Readers and Writers

-I debated for a little bit whether to post these tips or not.  They are quite simple and I might be the only one that didn’t know about them.  So at the risk of yall reading this post and saying, “Duuuh!”, here are a couple of things I discovered about Blogger.

To Go To Blogger Home {Dashboard}:
Before I realized this, I use to click on “New Post” on the top, right corner of the screen, then on “Dashboard”. Turns out that if you click on the Blogger icon on the top, left corner of the screen, it takes you straight to the Dashboard.

To  Search for a Specific Topic:
Many blogs have a “search” button.  For those that don’t, type a key word in the box next to the Blogger icon on the top, left hand side of the screen, then click the magnifying glass next to that.  A search for that keyword will generate and bring up any posts with that word in the post title or content.
Note:  At one point, I had a search button in my blog but it wouldn’t work so I ended up taking it off.

Viewing the Reading List on the iPhone:
I don’t have the time to look through the blogs I follow on a desktop all the time.  In fact, most of the time I read them is on my iPhone.  The problem was that I thought I could only see a couple of updates at a time through my Reading List.

Turns out that if I place TWO fingers on the iPhone screen and scroll, it scrolls inside the box only, not the entire page.   So by placing two fingers, I can scroll through my Reading List box. The iPhone recognizes that there are two fingers instead of one and does it’s magic!
Note: Finding this out made me feel really out of touch with technology!

So there you have it.  The few things I’ve recently figured out about Blogger & my iPhone.  Just goes to show, you’re never too old to learn!

Do you have any tips you want to share?  Leave me a Sunny Note, chances are that you’ll teach us something new.  I

Homemade Captain Underpants Costume

This year SKB #1 wants to be none other than…

Sounds cheap, right? A red cape and pair of whitey-tighties.  Well, turns out SKB #1 is more into logistics. I think he takes a little after me. I ended up paying more for “skin” for this costume than I did for SKB #2’s Mario costume. Here are the supplies we used.
Note 1: I should have taken the bodysuit out of the package.  Once he saw a girl in the packaging photo, it was over and done with. No way was he going to wear it.

Note 2: If he isn't going to wear a body suit, what's the point of the tights? Just sayin'.

I cut cape to shape.

Then had the boys make the dots.

And here you go.

The kid’s got guts. Not only does he intend on wearing it trick or treating, he already wore it to a Halloween party where he won Funniest Costume! Maybe he takes a little after his father too.

Homemade Mario Costume

It’s amazing to me how much Halloween costumes cost.

This Mario Brothers one is even better priced than the one I saw last weekend at the store. It did get my creative juices flowing to find a way to recreate it way cheaper.

The only thing we bought at the costume store was this hat. SKB #1 suggested we spray paint it. He’s my boy!

Then I got to work. I used my hole-puncher to make the “buttons” and the “M” emblem.

I did as SKB #1 suggested and spray painted the hat. I also spray painted the “buttons”. As I was putting together this post, it dawned on me that I could have just used yellow construction paper. Duh! Live and learn, my friends. Live and learn. Speaking of learning, please wear gloves when spray painting unless you're willing to ruin your mani.

We already had overalls and I used double-sided foam tape to stick the "buttons" and the emblem on.

For the shirt, I just turned a Shrek shirt inside out.  Hey, if he’s willing to wear it, it’s on him.

It was much easier to buckle without the “buttons”.  So buckle first, tape last.

Once the hat is completely dry, tape the emblem.

One down, two to go.

Almost forgot the mustache!!

Total cost of the costume was the cost of the hat, $6.41. Not bad, ey?

Flea Market Finds

-It was a busy weekend but I managed to find time to go to a local church’s flea market and make a quick stop at the antique store.

Here are the flea market finds.

1) Folding Wood Measurer – $0.25

2) Little Wagon - $1.00

3) Wire Basket - $0.25

4) Wire “J” - $0.50

5) Enamel Kettle - $1.00

6) “Joy” Christmas Card Holder - $2.00

At the antique store I was thrilled to find this big and rusty “3”.

The funny thing is that I saw it last week as one of Gina’s (of Three Ring Cottage) finds at the antique fair she went to - in TEXAS!  I commented how I was drooling over it.  I couldn’t believe when I found my very own - in FLORIDA!  I

E is for Elephant

When I was pregnant with SKB #1, I was given this cute and soft elephant.
Source: Ebay
I used a stock photo because said elephant no longer looks this way.

I simply referred to the elephant as Elefante (that’s elephant in Spanish).  As soon as SKB #1 was old enough, he claimed the sweet and velvety rattle.  He couldn’t pronounce Elefante and would say Titi instead, so Titi stuck.

SKB #1 was very resourceful from a very young age.  He would grab Titi by the trunk with his mouth.  After all, he had places to crawl to and needed his little hands for that.  That was the beginning of the end to this poor elephant’s trunk.

Titi has traveled everywhere with us.

Even when other toys were introduced, Titi was never far away.
After loosing (and recovering) Titi at several stores, an airport, Downtown Disney and several other places that I don’t recall at the moment, I decided to purchase a couple of replacement Titis.
We lost Titi #2 somewhere along the way.  But we still have Old Titi (the original) and Titi (the 3rd and last one I purchased).
Titi was once thrown up to a chandelier and no one noticed until the burnt smell filled the room.  I bought some felt fabric and patched him up.

To this day, SKB #1 loves his Titi.

Showing Off

-How annoying is it when you follow a blog, wait for a daily post, and when she finally puts it out it’s to show off??!!

Well, that’s exactly what’s happening right here, right now.  My Kiss Me Slowly sign is being featured at Polly Want a Crafter today.  Click photo for the link.

While you’re there, why not take a gander around Cassity’s new Polly Want a Crafter site.  It's a spin-off of Remodelaholic.  It’s sure to bring crafty inspiration.

I'll be back tomorrow where I promise the post won't be so conceited.  Thank you for your patience AND patronage! I

Junkin’ It

-I’ve been visiting a lot of blogs lately of people that decorate with what some might consider junk.  Oh, the nerve to think of it as junk!  I choose to think they are “loved jewels” that have been greatly upcycled.  In that note, here are some of the “loved jewels” around my house.

This little, cute-as-a-button ladder is now a little side table.

I’m starting to have an obsession with doorknobs.

I couldn’t resist the little shoe forms, the paint splats made them even more appealing to me!

My favorite loved jewel of all is the farm table.

I had the table made out of a garage door I got through Freecycle.  It was painted white and it was all chippy and yummy.  I did have it sand down for practical purposes.  But I left the paint when I made this little table to let weather outside.

I was able to get two of these wonderful doors and the other one became the table top for the bar in the Mancave.

There’s still a long piece left waiting for me to reinvent it.  All in due time.

I got really brave this week and brought out the original hardware that came with the doors and displayed them here.

As usual, I’m not sure if I like it or not.  I‘m letting sit and settle on me a while before I decide.  What do you think?  I want brutal honesty, I think. I
