The Flux Capacitor is Broken!

I feel like a part of me is missing.  Like a limb or something.  My heart aches for him.  I haven't been away from him for, well, never.  I long for him.  But the Geniuses say he will be okay.

My Mac is being fixed.  As I type this post on a Windows laptop (not that there's anything wrong with that), I miss him all the more.  They tell me it's the flux capacitor that needs fixing.

OK, it's some other techie term that I forgot as soon as the Genius said it.  The point is that I am counting the hours until he comes back to me.

On a happier note, in case you haven't heard, the Beatles are now available on iTunes!

Lucky for you, songs by the two little "Beatles" did not make the cut.

Hope you are having a good week so far.

Thanksgiving Day 2010

To all my American-based readers, hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend!  To all my readers elsewhere, hope yall had a good weekend, period!

Our Thanksgiving weekend consisted of Parade watching…

…enough food to feed several armies…

…a Thanksgiving play (where SKB #3 had the role of a turkey)…

…and relaxing!

Yep, we have a LOT to be thankful for!

Ch, Ch, Ch, Changes

You’ve probably noticed a few changes around my blog recently.  One of the reasons I started blogging was to stay in tune with technology.  As a stay-at-home-mom some times things like HTML codes tend to be nonexistent.  Go figure.  I finally had a chance to play around with such codes and Photoshop to revamped the blog.

The first change was getting my own .com.  Instead of blogspot in the address, the blog’s web address is now 3sunkissedboys.com.  This should not affect you as a reader since Blogger magically converts everything.  Actually it doesn’t affect me as a writer either, since Blogger magically converts everything.

I’ve added some new pages (along with some cool looking tabs!) and updated some old ones.

In the “About Me” page, I wasn’t really sure what to write (or how much) about myself so I kept it short and sweet.  But feel free to leave me a Sunny Note with any questions you might have.  I will update the page if needed.

My favorite page is the “Meet the Boys”.  It details their personalities and of course has their latest pictures!

The sidebar now has buttons as their headers made by yours truly out of this.

Now I couldn’t have done any of this without some help.  It takes a village people.  I’ll like to thank these folks for their awesomeness!

Take a look around and let me know what you think.

Oh, and just because it’s a cool song!

Giving Thanks Year Round

We have a lot to be thankful for in our house.

I want the boys to realized how blessed we are so we’ve started a new tradition around our house.  I had the Sun Kissed Boys write on index cards what they were grateful for.

Some wrote, some drew.

SKB #1 helped SKB #3 with what he thought he should be thankful for.  He also served as a translator.

Then they put them in the “We’re thankful for…” jar.

SKB #1 decorated the jar with crafts he had done in school.

SKB #3 enjoyed this activity so much, he lingered on even after the bigger brothers were gone.

The thought is to every so often sit and write (or draw) what we’re thankful for.  Then share it with everyone at the dinner table.  This not only helps us step back and appreciate things that we might otherwise seem to take for granted, but also creates great memories.

I’ll be gone for the rest of the week.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Place Tags

These place tags are super easy to make and they add so much to your place settings or buffet.  Here are the things you will need:

Index cards
Chalkboard paint
Supplies to hold the embellishments

Start by painting the index cards.  Then fold in half.

I found it easier to label them then adding the embellishments.  Of course this depends on how much you’ll be embellishing the tags.

I used 1/16 hole punch to slip the pin through.

Scrabble letters are always cute too.  I used double-sided sticky tape to attach it.
We have very important guests around here.

When it comes to decorating these, the sky’s the limit.  You can use Japanese tape, ribbons, scrap fabric, stickers, etc.

Have fun crafting!

Pumpkin Spice Martini Recipe

I made this delicious cocktail this weekend and it was a hit.  A little too much of a hit for me, if you know what I mean …hiccup.  Excuse me!

After several requests for the recipe, I thought I would share it with my readers as well.  I doctored the recipe I found in Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade.

Movie Decor

There are certain movies I watch over and over not only for their story line but also because I love the setting.  Under the Tuscan Sun is a movie I’ve watched multiple times for the scenery.  However, there are also movies that I watch for the home d├ęcor.  What Lies Beneath, Something’s Gotta Give, and Father of the Bride are among my favorites.  There are two at the VERY favorite list at the moment.

The first one is It’s Complicated.  I am absolutely head-over-heals in love with Meryl Streep’s house in this movie.  Let’s take a little photo tour, shall we?
We might be redoing our kitchen in the near future and this one might just be my inspiration.

What do you think of the transition of floor materials from wood, to tile, to carpeting?

I am a sucker for claw-foot tubs.

The second most loved movie home  is Kevin Costner’s beachfront cottage in Message in a Bottle.

Who wouldn’t love to have a studio with all these windows?

What movie homes do you love? I
