Anthropologie Lamp

For a while now I have been waiting for Anthropologie to mark down this wonderful lamp.  I love the lamp but I really didn’t want to spend $148 on it.  Have I mentioned that I am cheap thrifty?

It’s still not on sale so I was super excited when I saw that Ashley Ann, of Ashley Ann Photography, had taken on a project to recreate this unique pendant light.  This is her version of it.

She did a great tutorial on it.  (Side Note: I love everything Ashley Ann does.  I think she's amazing.  I completely blame her for starting my own blog.) Check her out her blog for the tutorial, her beautiful photographs, her adorable babies, DIY and more.

My neighbor, Alanna, found a great egg basket for me at our antiquing excursion this past weekend. It was perfect for the Anthropologie knock-off re-creation!  Here are some pictures of my final version and along the way.

These were white and I spray painted them with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze.

I haven't forgotten about the freebie find I mentioned earlier this week.  It just needs to be "tweaked" before the reveal and I haven't had time to do that just yet.

Breakfast On The Run

Mornings are pretty hectic around here.  I should specify, weekday mornings are crazy busy around here.  It usually starts with me waking up, hitting the snooze a few times, then a mad rush to get Sun Kissed Boy #1 (who moves slower than a turtle) and Sun Kissed Boy #2 (who may or may not want to cooperate with the school going business) ready for school.  Yes, this could all be less crazy and I’d have time for a leisure cup of coffee and we could sit for breakfast and talk about what’s in store for our day if I got up when the alarm actually went off.  But that would only happen in Bizzaro World.  I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and all that jazz.  I also want my children to learn good eating habits (even if it’s jammed down their throat).  I started making egg casserole in a muffin pan (so everyone has an individual helping) and reheating it throughout the week every morning for them. 

Egg “Muffins”

-Eggs

-Milk

-Ham

-Veggies

-Cheese

-Salt & Pepper (optional)

Preheat oven to 400.  Spray muffin pan with Pam.  Mix everything together and pour in muffin pan about ¾ full.  If you have extra, you can fill it to the top.  Bake for 20-25 or until golden brown and fluffy.

I used ham, veggies, and cheese because it’s what I had on hand.  You can use whatever topping you prefer.  Each muffin tin holds about one egg, depending on how many toppings you put in.

The 4 oz. Glad containers work great for storing these muffins.

To reheat, I pop one in the microwave for about 40 seconds and serve.

Another great thing about this breakfast is that if we’re in a super-duper rush, we can grab it and eat it in the car.  I'm just saying.

Legos Save the Day 

Sun Kissed Boy #2 was under the weather last week.  Poor little guy couldn’t hold anything down.

I had to come up with a creative way to replace his electrolytes because he doesn’t like Pedialyte or Gatorade.  This is what I came up with…

I froze the Pedialyte and Gatorade in a Lego ice cube tray!

A word of warning: Be real careful when taking out these frozen little men.  There's no louder sound than a sick little boy crying over a headless frozen Lego man.  I learned the hard way.

I got the ice cube tray when we went to the Lego store earlier this year.  There is absolutely no way we can go to Disney World without a stop to Downtown Disney where the Lego store (or as Sun Kissed Boy #1 calls it, Lego Heaven) resides.

I picked up this adorable little key chain for myself because it reminds me of my boys.  They sell all kinds of cute ones.

I’m happy to report that Sun Kissed Boy #2 has made full recovery and he swears it’s because of Lego popsicles.  J

Let Things Marinate 

Some times I will paint or redecorate and I won’t be crazy about the look.  When this happens, I sometimes give it time to marinate.  I will live with it for a little while and see if “it grows on me”.

This little sculpture has a couple and three little ones so for obvious reasons I love it.  But I didn’t love its original color.  It wasn’t an expensive piece so I had no problems repainting and distressing it.

I am not sure if I like the outcome so I’ve placed it in its spot and wait. 

I got this bowl when I got married.  The bronze look is no longer to my liking sooo Heirloom White came to the rescue.

I’m not sure what I don’t like about this.  Is it the placement?  Is it the ceramic balls in the bowl?  Is it too delicate of a piece with the "manly" trunk and ship's wheel?  But I’m letting it sit tight for the moment.

These candlesticks also took a coat of the white.  These I like!  I have a GREAT spot for them.  Check in later this week for my best freebie find to date!

Summer’s Here!

All right, not officially.  The mercury doesn’t have to rise very much in South Florida for the Sun Kissed Boys to think so.  Summers around my parts is all about the pool, watermelon, slip-n-slides, and bubbles!  The Sun Kissed Boys have a good start.

 Oh, and summer’s about John Deer rides!!!!!!
