My Boys Make Me Laugh

-Being a mommy of 3 boys has its funny moments.  Let the pictures explain what I mean.

What do the Sun Kissed Boys find funny?  Apparently, making a puzzle...

... then dumping it on your head is among the super funniest!!

Oh, and anything with the words poo poo, fart, or burp.  Doing the last two would make any one of the Sun Kissed Boys giggle 'till the end of time.  :-)

Enjoy the funny moments in your day.

Sandy Places

The latest addition to the Mancave/patio area is a hot tub.  Our handy man (who I love!) made a platform for it to level out the area using sand and stepping-stones.

After he set the stepping-stones, I realized that they were too wide apart for my taste.

I’ve been collecting sea shells from everywhere we vacation since our honeymoon.  I’ve had them displayed in mason jars throughout the house.  The bottle caps, well, it’s obvious how I collected those. ;)  I decided to use those two things to remedy the situation.

Sun Kissed Boy #2 was once again my little helper, but I think he needs to be promoted to “assistant”.

I like that when we have parties, instead of throwing bottle caps away, our friends can keep adding to our “d├ęcor”.  And when we go away again, to a sunny vacation spot, we can keep adding as well.

Smooth Smoothies

For the Sun Kissed Boys’ birthday party, instead of spending the day slaving over a hot grill (on an already hot day), I opted to have it catered.  I have to give a shout-out to my BFF, Elda, of Corporate Caterers for setting this up for me.  I wish I had taken pictures of their delicious food and nice setup.  They really go out of their way to not only have tasty food but also beautifully presented.  Click here to check for a location or a franchise near you.

This was the tray of fruit leftover from the party.

So what to do with enough fruit to feed 25 people?  Make smoothies, of course!!

Here are the ingredients.

Dump desired amount in blender, blend, and serve!!!

Cheers!

Sun Kissed Husband came home early and read the boys a story.  A perfect ending to the day.  J

A Revamped Highchair

My boys are out of highchairs already but I got this adorable highchair from my friend, Jennifer, that used it for her kids before she passed it down to me. Then my boys used it so the sentimental value doubles!!!  And it’s just cute and I’m not ready to part, ok?!

I got my inspiration from one of my favorite paintings by Rodney White.

I started layering on the colors.

I didn’t worry about covering every single inch of the chair with each color because I was going to distress it.

I printed the No 5 using Crash Numbering Serif font, size 300. Then used carbon paper to trace to the seat.

I used No 5 because that’s our family number and I love decorating with numbers and letters.

Next, I filled the sign with red paint.

Finally, I distressed it using 220 grit sandpaper.  I used a low grit because I wanted to control what layer of paint would show through.  And here it is!  Drum roll, please.
Too bright??  I might need to glaze it but for now, I'm letting it marinate.  (Sometimes marinating just means I'm too lazy to mess any more with it for the moment.)

This what Sun Kissed Boy #3 did while I painted the last coat.

This is what I listened to while I painted the last coat.

I love my new wind chimes!

UPDATE:
I asked Jennifer if there was any history behind the highchair (I was too eager to wait for an answer before I posted, hence the update now).  She said that her mom gave her a Jenny Lind highchair because that's the kind she's always used at her home with her foster babies (250 so far) and Jenny Linds stand the test of time.  This is definitely a keeper for sentimental reasons!!  Thank you, Jennifer!
