Home Depot's Kids Workshop

On the first Saturday of the month, Home Depot hosts a "How-to Workshop" for kids. The Kids Workshop is design to teach kids do-it-yourself skills. I'm all for that! So are our DIYer neighbors, Karen and Alanna, that took the Sun Kissed Boys to the one held this past Saturday. They made a morning/afternoon of it that included two parks and a lunch date. They took pictures of the Home Depot experience because it was the boys' first time at the workshop they know a certain Sun Kissed Mamma that loves to blog about this type of thing. (Aren't they thoughtful?!)

On the agenda, a tulip planter. Perfect gift for Mother's Day.

Each kid participant gets a Home Depot apron.  Once their project is completed, Home Depot also awards them with a pin for a job well done.

Karen and Alanna had the boys choose the plants themselves.

Then they went off to find a shady spot at the park to have the boys paint the planters. They came armed with contractor paper and craft paints.

Here are the boys, on Mother's Day, right before coming in the house to give me their creations. There are pictures of that but I'll spare you my crazy-morning-hair shots.
The look on Sun Kissed Boys #3's face cracks me up every time I see it!

The boys had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back and build something else.

I'm pretty proud of my little guys that are slowly turning into big guys before my very eyes.

Oh my gosh...that picture of the three of them is so precious...a real keeper! I remember when my little guys would attend those workshops...we still have one apron. Actually, my youngest could still go, but now soccer or lacrosse seems to get in the way! Enjoy those boys, Yanet!

What a cool project they created. Love the aprons. I didn't know they had workshops for kids. That's so great!

I will have to take my daughter to something like that. She would love it. Come to think of it that would be a good daddy/daughter activity!

You've got some great neighbors! I love the looks on the boys faces while they're painting. You can tell they wanted to make sure the planters were just right. :) Sweet.

Hi Yanet!

Oh my gosh... the picture of your youngest is a crack up! He looks like he's full of life :) The look on their faces is priceless. My boys really enjoy doing those projects at Home Depot. We made a birdhouse one year. I'm glad I saw your post because we've forgotten about them. Hope you had a happy Mother's Day! Sweet sweet boys :)
