My Ugliest Post EVER (I hope)!

In several of my previous posts I have gotten compliments on how pretty and green my lawn looks.  Well, that's just about the extent of the prettiness of my outdoor spaces.

The truth is, as much as I pretty up the INSIDE of my house, I completely lack on the OUTSIDE. I'm just not good at decorating outdoor spaces.  We'll get to that in a minute. Let's first start with the positive.

In our backyard we have the Mancave area. You can read more about that space here

But the patio part of the Mancave area looks like this now.
After having lost way too many canopies due to the unpredictable Florida weather and winds, we've learned our lesson. Some kind of permanent roofing would be nice.

Leading up to the Mancave space is this area which needs, uh, somethin'!

And the dinning area of the space is where the outdoor farm table sits, half way re-painted.

My husband is always telling me to contact HGTV to come and re-do our outdoor spaces. Yeah, like if I have some kind of direct line to the guys at HGTV'D!!

Then the front of the house is somewhat sadder.
Our great neighbors helped out pretty it up once but then the plants got some kind of bugs and I've let it go since.

About the only cute thing in this space is the little boy in the swimsuit!

Then there's the matter of this tall boy that's halfway dead after lightning hit it. It needs to come down at some point... soon!

So, why am I even blogging about these ugly spaces? I blame Kate, of Centsational Girl, and her Outdoor Ideas linky party.

I'm hoping some of you can take a look and sunny note or e-mail some ideas my way. Heck, I'll put you up if you come down and get  your ideas going in person! I can guarantee you, our nights at the Mancave are a blast!  Any takers?!

Oh girl I wish I could come and just stay awhile and play. Good luck with all of your plans and whatever other plans come your way.

I'm hoping the rain stops in Ohio this weekend long enough to do something with my yard. It's a mess!

I'm NOT the person to be asking. My outdoor spaces are seriously lacking, too. BUT~you've got some great things out front in that picture with the cute boy. The Adirondack chair, the barrels and ladder and little table. Pretend it's a room and see what you come up with!

I think what you need is some vertical interest against those walls. And some delineated spaces for areas of plants. You've got some great spaces to work with!

I love the mancave bar area

I love those lights at the enterance to the cave! I agree with Brenda on something vertical on that wall. Then maybe cluster some colorful large pots with something easy to grow. A pergola would look nice over the patio area. You have a lot of great stuff to work with!

is that a wine barrel turned seat? may be the best thing i've seen all day! i would love to have, and totally think would work in your space, a pergola built off of my garage instead of a flimsy canopy. if only the boyfriend would actually build one for me! good luck on your sprucing!

I would stay in your mancave! Even though, well, I'm not a man, so maybe I don't qualify....

I love your red/orange door and the tiles in the front and also the garden. Looks like you could use some plants in that planter and hanging baskets. Something colorful like crotons or ixora? The purple "Mexican heather" flowers that are popular here in our area?

It could always be worse, you could live at the base of a volcano spewing molten lava...

to the Teachinfourth... LOL!!! I live in Fl. about 15 min away and my lawn looks MUCh worse!

Hopping over from Censational Girls Outdoor Party. Hope you enjoy my 'patio time' post. (link #205)

Your yard looks fun and your boys are adorable. I would suggest a little feminine corner somewhere . . . comfy chair, umbrella, little table, a few pots of flowers and candles. It would be good for those moments you need a little break from the mancave.
