Is It Really Worth It?

One day, while at the bookstore, Sun Kissed Boy #2 spied something he wanted. He asked me how much it was and when I told him, he asked if that was expensive. I asked him if he had the money, when he said no, I told him then I guess it was expensive.

He asked to take on extra jobs around the house to save money for it. I told him to be sure he wanted it since it was going to take him a few weeks to earn it. He said he was and was determined to earn it and quick.

When he had enough, we headed back to the store for the purchase. Sadly, what he wanted was no longer in stock but store clerk offered to order it and have it sent to the store (to avoid shipping charges).

So he wouldn't leave empty handed, his sweet, older brother footed the bill for a toy out of his own allowance.

Several days later, the call finally came. His Angry Birds Board Game had arrived!

After he played a little bit, I asked him if he liked it. He said he did. When I asked him what his favorite thing about the game was, he answered, playing with his brother.

He's pretty sweet too. Money well spent then, son.

That's awesome! I think his bank is so sweet, and that sharing his game with his brother is his favorite thing to do is priceless.

I love that he saved up for it and then he was patient enough to wait for it to be ordered! Not a lot of kids would be able to do that. Bravo!

My son plays angry birds on his phone all the time. He's 26. They never outgrow the games :)

Oh, and I have a metal box that looks a lot like that. Just without the money slit on top!

That is too cute! I love that he saved for it and still wanted it, mine would have moved on to something new. :) I had no idea that they had a board game for angry birds, so cool!! :)
I hope he has fun playing with his brothers.

How fun! I love that you made him work and save up for it! I think most parents would have just bought it for their kid! My boys save up their birthday and tooth fairy money to buy toys:)

Oh my...I didn't know they had an angry birds board game. haha...I was addicted to that video game when I was pregnant...my wrists were hurting me already, and my Dr. advised that I quit. haha...

That is so great that you had him save his money for it. I love that he wanted to take on extra jobs around the house. Teaching money smarts early is the best thing to do!

I am so glad that he loves his new game and that he enjoys playing with his brother with it. So sweet!

Oooh! He's got that delayed gratification thing down! He's going to do really well in life. And yay for you for teaching him how to earn money and wait for what he wants!

Yay for him for having his priorites straight. You have great kids!

Great story! Love it. It's an important lesson to save up for things you want. (I should give that a try!)
