It's Always Hard to Say Goodbye

Some time soon-ish (hopefully before Valentines Day) I'll be taking down Christmas decorations. I don't like this not only because it's a painful and time-consuming task but the house seems to look so bare afterwards. I will miss my little Christmas pretties.

When do you say goodbye to your Christmas decorations?

One year I put them up for Christmas in September and kept them up until February...

After New Year's is my usual time.

I agree, the house looks so bare and empty afterwards.

I usually try to take mine down before the new year!

My tree is already down - but the mantle is still decorated & will be until after the 1st of the year.
Hubster took down the outside lights the day after Christmas only because the weather was decent!

Beautiful! Love your snowman garland and cute Santa chair covers! I'm always a little sad to see the ornaments and decorations come down as well.

Hopefully by New Years. Maybe the bareness will inspire me to edit some things, or even just shuffle things around.
I LOVE your little Ralphie in his bunny suit!

Oh darn, I had taking my stuff down too! It is always so hard to do. I miss the lights the most. At least you took all these cute photos. Just click over to this post when you need a fix!

New Year's Day all comes down but my Christmas Village. It comes down two weeks later. My sis and I always exchange at least one home decor gift intended to be used after the holidays, so that that moment of sadness, is replaced by excitement of using something new! I recommend that!

I try to take them asap, just to get it over with,I find it very depressing...but to ease the transition I lean towards my wiccan faith and try to keep some ever green in the house until spring...I have two very small evergreen trees I bought and will keep until spring and plant them outside! Also I leave some "winter" stuff up, like snowman and stuff that symbolizes winter!

I always decorate the house the day after Thanksgiving and take it all down around New Years Eve/Day. This year I put it all up today. I just couldn't handle all the extra stuff in my house this year for some reason. I have even been digging out all sorts of stuff to donate to Goodwill. Still I miss the ambient light the tree and a few other decorations gave off.

Well, I still have everything up! Ken took down the outside lights but only because we're getting a cold front and he wanted to do it before it hit. I'm in no hurry. :)
