Still Here & UPrinting Business Cards Winner

UPrinting Business Cards Giveaway

When I posted about business card holders, a few of you expressed that you wanted to make business cards for you blog. I thought it'd be fun to have a giveaway so I contacted UPrinting to ask them to sponsor a giveaway of their business cards and they agreed!

UPrinting is an online printing company that provides good quality business card printing and business card design services.

I used UPrinting for my promotional and public relation blog cards. I love that UPrinting gives me the option to print in the front and in the back of the cards.

I wanted the back of this card to look like the back of a polaroid shot. To insure that this effect was achieved without any bleeds or cut-offs, I ordered a free proof. After receiving the proof, via e-mail, I called the UPrinting team to discuss technical details and adjustments I wanted done to the card. They were so helpful in noting exactly what I wanted so the folks from preprinting would get it just right.

The cards I ordered are 14pt, card stock, gloss giving them a nice thickness and appearance. 

For the back of the PR cards, I used a photo of the beach I took while we went to Ft. Myers Beach this summer. I used Photoshop to layer a photograph of the heart-shaped rock (which I found in Miami Beach a couple of summers ago) that I use in my header.

What Died in the Garage?!

A couple of weekends ago, I meant to take out our Halloween/Fall decorations. The reason I didn't is because our garage is so stuffed, I couldn't even reach the boxes where they were stored. Of course, that didn't motivate me at all to de-clutter it. 

I'll tell you what did, the stench! Sun Kissed Husband and I thought something had died in there. So we took everything out of the garage readying ourselves for a dead rat. But the smell was so nasty that perhaps a raccoon had crawled in and croaked.

After taking everything out, we found no dead critters. The smell was coming from the garage refrigerator. The freezer part was left opened, thawed all the meats, and let out a lovely, someone-died, aroma. 

We scrubbed the refrigerator and the floors and put everything back. I didn't have the energy to take out even more boxes to decorate for Halloween. Actually, it was so hot out, I just wanted to float in a pool. Preferably an infinity pool, far away from raw-meat fragrance.

The good thing that came out of the fiasco is that we decided to get rid of a lot of things in the garage (to, I don't know, make room for a car perhaps) and are holding a garage sale this Saturday.

Let's Hear It For The Boys!

I am re-posting this because I just downloaded the Blogger app to my iPhone and I mistakenly deleted this post. I apologize to all who had left Sunny Notes as those got deleted as well. But I did read and appreciate them all.

Summer's grueling swim practice schedule paid off since now two of the Sun Kissed Boys have moved up to a higher level in the their swim team.

In October, the swim team will be hosting their annual dinner banquet. This is our first year attending the event and we are looking forward to it. It promises to be a night of fun, dancing, and specially, recognition to all of the swimmers for their hard work all year.

Until then, where my nights normally consist of mainly blogging, they will be occupied with preparations for the banquet instead. I will be posting here and there but with no consistency (not that there normally is anyway). :D

Sun Kissed Boy #2 Starts Kindergarten

A few weeks ago school started in our parts. Sun Kissed Boy #2 was beyond excited to go to the same school as his big brother. After all, this must mean he's a big boy too. He's proud to go to "big boy school".

After years of befriending whoever his big brother would befriend, he now can start his own friendships. He's thrilled to have me set up play-dates and cannot wait until he can have sleepovers.

Homework is now part of his afternoon routine and much to my surprise, he thoroughly enjoys it.

What a pleasure it is to watch him discover a new world and become his own person.

Watching Them Land

The Sun Kissed Boys consider driving around neighborhoods looking at pretty homes to be a "mommy thing" to do. So in turn, they requested a "boy thing" to do after our Coral Gables tour.

Sun Kissed Husband had the perfect idea when he suggested to go see airplanes land!

We watched several of them touch down, but the one that we were there to see was Lufthansa's Airbus A380. 

In the shot above, Sun Kissed Boy #1 was taking pictures of the mammoth beast with my iPhone. Here's how they turned out.

What was even cooler about our adventure was that it was packed with photo moments. Guess what? That's a "mommy thing" too!

The only thing wrong with our little field trip was that it was a million degrees out. I do already have visions of a similar excursion, including a picnic, when it cools down some in our parts.

Homes Through Coral Gables, FL

Saturday, the Sun Kissed Family headed to the City of Coral Gables for a little Craigslist pick up. More on that latter on this week.

The Gables, as the locals call it, is a historic town in South Florida rich in charm and architecture.

After loading up the boys with breakfast and sweets, we followed the Banyan tree-lined streets for a scenic tour of the gorgeous homes around The Gables. 

Magnificent homes, don't you think? My favorite is the Spanish-looking one with the ivy crawling up the wall. Which one is yours?

Tomorrow, I will share what we did the second part of the afternoon. It had the boys soaring.

Hello Everyone!

I first want to say thank you to Yanet for having me guest post on her blog today.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

I wanted to share my favorite kid's craft book with all of you today.

I bought this book, What Shall We do Today, at Lowe's a couple of years ago for my kids.

It is one of those books that is filled with fun seasonal projects for the kids to do, and doesn't require you to have to run to the Craft Store for every project...

I wanted to share one of the pumpkin projects from the book that I think you will enjoy.

All you need is a pumpkin, twine, bird seed, and a few pumpkin carving tools.

Cut the pumpkin in half and scrape out all of the seeds.

Fill it with bird seed....

We left this one sitting out on the table.

We hung this one in the tree.

The girls braided 3 pieces of twine together.

You tie two strands of braided twine around the tree and then add half of a pumpkin.

Fill it with bird seed.

And then you have a bird feeder.

This is a picture of last years bird feeder.

It really is a fun simple project to do with the kids.

This book is great for kids who love to be creative....
